Suppose you are coming to Tibet from Nepal. It is mandatory to get a Chinese Group Visa from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. All the preexisting valid Chinese will get cancelled. In Nepal, you will get the visa after three business days. Therefore you will have to wait there as per.

The difference in Tibet Travel permit
When you are coming to Tibet from Nepal, we don’t have to send you your permit in Nepal. Your permits wait here in China, and upon your arrival, your tour guide will have them. She will help proceed to the checkpoint in both Lhasa airport or the Land border in Kyirong.
While going to Tibet from other parts of China is different.
If you are flying to Lhasa from other parts of China, we will send your original Travel permit to your hotel in cities in China. Therefore, you will have to have the original travel permit on hand while boarding the flight to Lhasa.
Suppose you are taking the train to Tibet from other cities in China. You will only need a copy of your Travel permit in hand while getting the train ticket and while boarding the train. We will send you a photo of your permit by email.
The difference in the mode of transportation
While coming to Tibet from Nepal has only flight and overland journey options available. Travelling to other parts of China to Tibet has train additional to flight and overland drive options. Taking the train from Other cities in China to Lhasa makes travelling to Tibet cheap and accessible to many travellers.
