Tibet Heritage Tour

We will welcome you at the Airport or The Lhasa train station. Then you will be escorted to your hotel. It is always advice the travellers to take a good rest for proper acclimatization. Please do not any activities which would lead you to dehydrate, like taking a bath. And avoid hard work for the first day. Many travellers prefer to take a nap. After some hours of rest, you can explore the Barkhor street and Tibetan quarter surrounding your hotel.

First, in the morning, you will visit the Jokhang temple. The temple is considered as the holiest of all the Buddhist temples and Monasteries in the Inner Himalaya, founded in 7th Century by Tibetan Buddhist King Songtsen Gampo to house the Holiest statue of Lord Buddha. He brought this statue for Dowry of Marrying Chinese Princess Wencheng.  There will be thousands of pilgrims Circumambulating, prostrating and visiting the Holy Temple.

In the afternoon, You will visit the Sera Monastery. The monastery is one of the three largest in Lhasa and central Tibet. The Main disciple of Je Tsongkhapa founds it. It is about 600 years old. The main highlight of the monastery visit is the Monks debating of Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy. The debating courtyard is open for the visitor to observe from 3 pm every weekday. It is fun watch and photography, but inside the Courtyard, only Mobile Phone Photography is allowed.

After the visit to Sera Monastery, We will take you back to your hotel. In the evening, we will pick you up at your hotel for Traditional Tibetan styled welcome group dinner. We will be visiting the Tibetan theme restaurant with traditional Tibetan dishes.

First in the morning, the group will visit the Potala palace, It is the most iconic Building in Tibet. It has more than 1000 rooms and towering above the Lhasa city. The palace is first build in seventh century by the King Songtsen Gampo. Later in 17th Century the fifth Dalai Lama has rebuild his resident over the ruins of the old palace. Ever since the palace has served as the winter resident for successive Dalai Lama and Administrative center for the local Tibetan Government.

In the afternoon, the group will visit the to Drepung Monastery. It is one of the three biggest monasteries in Lhasa and central Tibet. In the early 20th Century, it is the world biggest monastic complex. The circuit around the monastery takes about an hour of spectacular views.

At the end of the day we will invite you for a dinner with a Tibetan expert, who will give you an enlightening talks about range of topics from tradition, culture, architecture, festivals, costume to Tibetan signs and symbols etc.

Today we will live a day of normal Tibetan Life in Lhasa. You will go for a well know Lingkhor pilgrim route in Lhasa for Kora (Circumambulation). This circulation takes around the entire old city of Lhasa. It is about 8 kilometres walk along with the Native Tibetan Devotee. This three hours walk will take you to the real daily life of ordinary Tibetan in Lhasa. You can drink tea with them, talk to them and share great moments with lots of smile with them. Along the route of Kora, you will visit the Ani Tsankhung Nunnery and Thousand Buddha Statue on Chokpori Hill. After the completion of the circulation, We can take the rest of the day in Park behind the Potala Palace and enjoy and participate in Tibetan Group Dance.

Today we will begin our day by visiting a Tibetan Tea Shop, As you know, we Tibetan are very fond of drinking tea and we have a strong culture associated with drinking tea. So, In the tea shop we will drink Tibetan Lhasa sweet tea, Tibetan Noodle called Bol-Thuk and experience our Tibetan way of socializing in Tea Shop. After a visit to Tea Shop, we will drive to Drak Yerpa.

The drive to the Drak Yerpa takes about an hour. At the hermitage, we will have to do a little easy hiking to visit all the meditation caves. The Drak Yerpa Hermitage is associated with all the great master of Tibetan Buddhism. It is said the hermit is so essential that all the masters in Tibetan History have come here for meditation. It is a crucial Pilgrim destination for Tibetan Buddhist.

In the afternoon we will return to Lhasa to Visit a Tibetan Handicraft Center call Shol Dhenpa. Here we will learn and see the extraordinary array of authentic Tibetan traditional and contemporary works of crafts and arts, like Tibetan pottery wares, Thangka painting, Sewing work, paper and Buddhist statue fabrications.

Today we will drive to the Yamdrok Lake and camp for the night at the lakeshore of the Yamdrok Lake.  We will camp at with a view of a panoramic view of the blue lake and surround landscape of Tibet. In the night we can enjoy the unhindered view of beautiful stars and galaxy.

Today we will drive from Yamdrok Lake to Gyantse. Along the way, we will stop for a short time at the Karola Glacier. Upon arrival at the Gyantse town, we will visit the Gyantse Palchoe Monastery and the wonderful Gyantse Kumbum Stupa. It is a 32 meters (105ft) high structure, a nine-tier building with 108 small chapels.

After your breakfast, we will drive out of the Gyantse town. We will stop at a photography spot outside the Town. From there, you can see the entire Town of Gyantse, including its monastery, stupa, and the fort. It is one of our favourite places in Tibet to take a picture.

Along the way, we will visit the Tibetan village called Pashual, and here in the village, we will observe the traditional life of the Tibetan farming communities besides tasting locally made snacks.

We will also take a small detour from the main road to visit the Shalu monastery. It is renowned for mural painting and Buddhist scholastic learning and training.

We will have to stay for a night in a beautiful Tibetan interior decorated room in a four-star hotel. This Town also presents the last opportunity for last-minute shopping before entering the region of fewer means.

We will start our day little earlier today to have more time Sakya monastery. We will drive on the friendship road. From the Tibetan town of Lhatse, we will take a detour to the Sakya monastery. The monastery is the main principle monastery of the Sakyapa school of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery looks like a medieval fort. This architecture and painting of the Sakya monastery are entirely different from any other attraction you will visit on this tour. There are lots of things you can see in the monastery, that is why we leave Shigatse earlier. After the visit to Sakya Monastery, we will continue to drive towards Mount Everest. We will stop for a night in a small town called Shelkar.

Today is another highlight of the tour. We will be Driving from Saga to Mount Everest basecamp at the Rongbuk Monastery. From the Pang-la pass, we will have a distance view to some of the highest peaks of the Himalayas and the world; Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Mount Everest. We will take the zig-zag route to the Mount Everest base camp. We will stay a night in Tent guest house at the lap of Everest near the Rongbuk monastery.

In the morning, we will have a fantastic Sunrise view of Everest. Along the Himalaya first Sunbeam will lit the highest peaks, and sunray will gradually come down in the valleys. After watching the sunshine view of Mt Everest, we will start our return journey to the Shigatse. We will stop at some farming villages. Upon arrival back to Shigatse, we will have enough time to explore the main market street or hike the pilgrimage path at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery again.

We will travel back to Lhasa, the distance for the return journey is 280 kilometres, and It will take only 6 Hours travelling. On the way, we will visit the Nyimo Tibetan incense production centre to get in touch with local incense producers, try making your piece of products with instructions from local expertise. We will have enough time to do the last-minute souvenir shopping or walking the pilgrimage circuit around Jokhang Temple one more time.

Today we will drive to the Nomad Camp near Yangpachen. We will set up our camp for the night near the nomad tent. Here we will explore the nomad life of Tibetan Nomads. We will experience the Tibetan nomad’s life by joining them herding yaks and sheep and making cheese, yoghurt, and butter.

In the morning, we will continue to experience the Nomadic Lifestyle of the Tibetan people in their camp. We will drive back to Lhasa in the Afternoon. Along the way, we will stop by the hot spring at the Yangbachen geothermal hot spring for a bath.
