Lhasa-Tsedang-Shigatse-Namtso Lake tour

We will welcome you at the Airport or The Lhasa train station. Then you will be escorted to your hotel. It is always advice the travellers to take a good rest for proper acclimatization. Please do not any activities which would lead you to dehydrate, like taking a bath. And avoid hard work for the first day. Many travellers prefer to take a nap. In the evening we would like to recommend you in exploring the Barkhor Street in the old town.

In the morning, after having your breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel. Then you will first go to the Jokhang Temple, the holiest temple in Tibetan Buddhism. Since your hotel is in the Tibetan quarter of Lhasa city, you will walk to the Jokhang Temple. After visiting the temple, you can some time to explore the Old Lhasa city on your own for a couple of hours.
The guide will fix you a time and place to visit. In the afternoon, you will see the Sera monastery. This is the most well-preserved monastery in Tibet. The monastery you can sit in the courtyard where monks will be debating on Buddhist philosophy. You can stay there sometimes. This is a perfect opportunity for many travellers to take a picture of the monk debate. You can tell your guide to give you some free times to explore the monastery on your own if you would like to live in peace for sometimes.

First, in the morning, the group will visit Potala Palace. It is the most iconic building in Tibet. It has more than 1000 rooms and towering above the Lhasa city. The palace is first to build in the seventh century by the King Songtsen Gampo. Later in the 17th century, the fifth Dalai Lama has rebuilt his resident over the ruins of the old palace. Ever since the palace has served as the winter resident for successive Dalai Lama and Administrative centre for the local Tibetan Government.

In the afternoon we will visit the Drepung Monastery. It is one of the three most significant monasteries in Lhasa and central Tibet. In the early 20th century, it is the world biggest monastic complex. The Kora around the monastery takes about an hour of spectacular views.

We will drive east of Lhasa. First, we will visit the Dark Yerpa Hermit. The Dark Hermit is considered the most auspicious of all the hermits in Tibet. All the Tibetan Buddhist masters are said to have meditated here. The three most well know master meditated in the Hermit are Songtsen Gampo, Guru Rinpoche, Atisha, and Tsongkhapa. We still have their meditation caves. You can visit.

If you are practising meditation, We would like to recommend you in meditating in the hermit. This hermit has extraordinary spiritual energy.

In the afternoon, we will drive to Ganden Monastery. One of the three most significant monasteries in Tibet. The Je Tsongkhapa founded this monastery. It is the principal monastery of the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The main relic of the monastery is the Tomb Stupa of Je Tsongkhapa.

Today we will drive to the Southern Tibet. After arriving at the Lhasa Airport, we will be going along with the Yarlung Tsangpo River. The river Originates in Mount Kailash in Eastern Tibet and flows further into India and Bangladesh.

Upon reaching the Tsedang town, your guide and driver will have to apply your Aliens permit (One kind of Tibet travel permit). After this, you will visit the Yumbulhakhang fort. It is the first fort in Tibetan History. We will also visit the Traduk Temple. This temple is considered a first Buddhist Temple in Tibet.

After visit this two spot we will further driver on the other side of the river to Samye Monastery.

Samye Monastery is the first Buddhist Monastery in Tibet. The prominent relics of the Monastery are the personal belonging of the Guru Rinpoche. It is at this Monastery where the first seven noblemen to become Buddhist Monkshood, the Buddhist Institute in Inner Himalaya and Much Buddhist scripture are translated into the Tibetan Language. After the Monastery, we will drive to Chimpuk hermit.

Chimpuk hermit is Hermit for Guru Rinpoche. He is responsible for establishing Buddhism as the court religion of the Tibetan Empire. Once up there you can see the footprint, stone carvings, and Caves of Guru Rinpoche. It is at the hermit where guru rinpoche meditates for many years and Gave empowerment to countless beings.

Today is the spectacular day, today we will have the first Glance of the Himalayas, Lake, Glacier and Medieval town.

We will be driving from Samye Monastery to Gyantse town. First, we will stop at the Khampa la Pass, from the pass we will see the Himalayas in the distance, the Yamdrok lake in the valley and Tibetan Villages. After the Pass, we will stop on more at the shore of Yamdrok Lake.

After the lake, we will drive further into Himalaya following the lakeshore. We will visit the Samding Monastery. It is a monastery for the Dorjee Phagmo (The only female reincarnated Lama Tibetan Buddhism). After the Monastery, we will stop at the Carola Pass to view the Carola glacier.

We will stop at the Night in Gyantse town.

*In the evening, it is recommended to walk around the old town of Gyantse. You will love it.

In the monastery, we will visit the Gyantse Palchoe Monastery and Kumbum Stupa. The Kumbum Stupa is the stupa of Many Doors. It is said to contain 108 Chapel on the stupa. This is the most unique stupa in Tibet.

After visiting the Monastery and the stupa, we will stop on the outskirt of the town have a complete view of the Entire old city, with Wall surrounding it and the Gyantse fort.

We will visit the Shalu monastery, this Monastery is said to have the most unique wall painting in Tibet. The Thangka art use for the wall painting the Newari style from Nepal.

In the afternoon we will be visiting the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. The Monastery is the principal seat of the Panchen Lama. It was founded by the first Dalai Lama. Later in the 17th century, 5th Dalia Lama Present the Monastery to His teacher the Panchen Lama.

The Main Relic to the Monastery is the Gaint Statue of Future Buddha Maitreya. It is said to have built by the 9th Panchen Lama for the benefit of life lost during the first world war. There is two tomb stupa of remains of 11th Panchen Lama and all the previous Panchen Lamas.

*Go for the Kora Around the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery either in the dawn or early morning.

Today will be the longest drive in this entire journey. We will be driving 380 Kilometers from Shigatse to Namtso Lake. The drive hours is about 9 hours.

Namtso Lake is one of the three holiest lakes in Tibet. The snow cover mountain beautifully surrounds it. We want to recommend you to go for hiking around the Tashi Do Island where you will find the meditation cave and lots of different caves and a fantastic view of Lake.

Today we will return to Lhasa. Suppose you are not in a hurry to reach back to Lhasa for the last-minute gift shopping. We want to recommend a bath in the Natural Hot Spring in Yangpachen.
