The Yogurt festival tour is the one of a kind festival base special tour we are organizing in Tibet each year. This festival is centred around the Yogurt festival of Lhasa. Buddha has made a mandatory summer retreat for all his monks to prevent them from killing small insects by stamping on them. So every year, monks in Tibet would stay in the monastery for the retreat for the entire rainy season. It is an excellent opportunity for monks to Practice and Meditation on the Teaching of Buddhism.

At the end of the retreat, people would go to the monasteries to offer milk and yoghurt to the monks. During the visit, they would perform Tibetan Opera and Local Tibetan songs and dance as a part of the offering. This lead to the festival of the Yoghurt Festival. You can read more about the Yoghurt festival here.

The Yogurt festival tour is for 12 days, with Lhasa as the starting point. It is the Capital of Tibet since ancient times. We will stay in the city for four days for the proper acclimatization as well as enjoy the festival in the first hand. In the Shigatse, we will submerge in the region of the beautiful Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier, and the inner Himalaya ranges. Scrolling in the medieval street of Gyantse town will take you back to centuries. On the way to Shigatse, you will visit the Tibetan Village for a family visit.
