Midui Glacier is one of the most beautiful Glaciers in Tibet, and it is “one of the top six gorgeous glaciers in China,” for Its stunning and memorable view. It is located near the Midi Village in Nyingtri Prefecture, and You can reach this glacier either on your way to Rawoktso Lake to Yunnan from Lhasa. The Midui Glacier is easily accessible from the 84th Kilometer on the Sichuan Tibet Highway. From the main highway, you will have to 7 kilometres in the car to the parking area and 1.5 Kilometer of Hiking on the wooden platform to the Midui glacier.
The central glacier peak of the Midui glacier is at 6800 meters and Snow line at the elevation on 4600 meters, making it one of the lowest-placed glaciers in the world. It is the most important marine glacier in Tibet. The snow-covered the glacier all round the year and the scenery is impressive. Glaciers and ice are as clean as jade, the view is beautiful, the forms are different, and the appearance is intoxicating.
Midui Glacier is a confluence of world-class ice waterfalls. Each waterfall is more than 800 meters high and 1,000 meters wide. There is also a virgin forest between the two waterfalls.
It is a typical representative of marine glaciers in Southeast Tibet. Regular features, complete types, famous for the development of beautiful arch structure, is a rare natural wonder. Here, glaciers, lakes, farmland, villages, forests, etc. blend, it is a model for people to live in harmony with nature, and it is an excellent place for tourism.
At the lower end of the glacier is a mixed forest of needles and broad leaves, the snow is not changing all year round, the lush forest is evergreen, the head is wrapped in a silver palm, and the green skirt is under it. Affected by the climate of the eastern section of the Himalayas, although the Midui Glacier is located at 29 ° north latitude, the temperature at the end of the glacier is lower than that of the Bogdo Mountain glacier at about 44 ° north latitude.
The mountains around the glacier are full of flowers, and the forest green onions dance with silver snakes. The Midui Glacier is upstream of the Midui River. It lies on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway at 84 kilometres and merges from the southern bank of Palong Tsangpo to Palong Tsangpo. The Midui River is a secondary tributary of the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River.
On October 23, 2005, the ranking of China’s most beautiful places was released in Beijing. This event was sponsored by China National Geographic and was co-organized by 34 media nationwide for the “Most Beautiful Place in China” selection event.
