The Namtso Lake is located at 112 kilometres north of Lhasa on Tibet-Qinghai national High way. Locate between Damxung County of Lhasa Prefecture and the Pal-gon county of Nagqu Prefecture. In our language, the word Nam means sky and Tso mean Lake. it is known as the sky lake. The Namtso lake lies at the elevation of 4718 meters or 15,479 ft above sea level. The total area coverage of the Lake in 1993 square Kilometers. According to the local encyclopedic dictionary, the shape of the lake is larger on the western side and smaller on the eastern side which make Namtso Lake looks like a spoon shape from the sky. The depth of Namtso Lake is 125 meters.
