The Gyantse Damak Festival Tour is our exclusive tour in Tibet design around the famous Tibetan festival called Gyantse Damak Festival. As the name says, the festival is celebrated in the town of Gyantse. The festival is also known as the Gyantse horse racing, as horse racing is the main event of the festival. Gungsang Rabten initially started this 500 years old festival in honour of his father. It is an essential inter-village athletic competition.
Gyantse Damak Festival Tour begins with the arrival in Lhasa. In Lhasa, we will spend three days for the proper acclimatisation to the high elevation of Tibet. While in Lhasa, we will be visiting some of the main attractions in Lhasa city, including Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery.
After three days in Lhasa, We will visit the southern Tibet in Lhokha Prefecture. We will be visiting historical places like Yungbulagang, Samye Monastery, and Traduk temple.
After the short visit to the southern Tibet, we will drive to the central Tibet. In Gyantse, we will stay for a day to see and observe the Gyantse Damak Festival. We will visit Shigatse town before going to Namtso lake.
At the end of 13 days Gyantse Damak Festival Tour, we will end the tour in Lhasa.
