Rawoktso Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Tibet and the Biggest in eastern Tibet. It is located 90 kilometres from the Rawok township in Nyingchi Prefecture of Tibet. About 200 Years ago, there was a massive landslide, which the blockage of the Paling Tsangpo River. The slide causes the formation of the lake. These triplet lakes forms like the beaded. Because it is located close to the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, makes the lake famous for travellers travelling overland to Tibet.
Rawoktso Lake is 26kilometers long and 1-5 kilometres wide. The lake is located at the elevation of 3850 meters above sea level. On the southwest of the lake, there is Gangri Karpo, Atagonla Glacier on the south, and Beshula ridge in the northeast of the Rawoktso Lake. To the north of Rawoktso Lake is the famous Lagu Glacier, which extends to the lake. The melting snow and ice in the surrounding snow mountains constitute the primary source of water for Rawoktso Lake. It is the primary source of the famous Palong Tsangpo River.
At its deepest point, the lake is about 50 kilometres deep. It usually freezes at the end of November and thaws in May of the following year.
Green pastures and green crops surround Rawoktso Lake. On the mountainside, there are reckless forests, and then there are colourful rhododendron and shrubby jungle belts; on the top of the mountain are snowy mountains that are not changed all year round.
Rawoktso Lake Scenic Area is divided into three sections of the upper, middle, and lower sections. It consists of three cascade-shaped lakes, which are Yangcuo Lake, Cuo Lake, and Lengan Jiabu Lake.
