The symptoms of Acute Mountain sickness could differ from person to person. To some, it could be severe, and they would have to evacuate from Tibet Immediately. Yet, for others, it could be mild and manageable. Therefore, it is often recommended for Travelers to design Tibet tours in such a way that allows your body to Acclimatize to Tibet.
The followings are symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness.
Symptoms generally ranged from mild to moderate altitude illness include:
- Insomnia
- Dizziness or light-headedness
- Tiredness
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
- Vomiting
- Rapid Heartbeat
- Shortness of breath with the effort
Symptoms commonly associated with more severe altitude illness include:
- Bluish discolouration of the skin (cyanosis)
- Chest tightness or congestion
- Confusion
- Cough
- Coughing up blood
- Decreased consciousness or withdrawal from social interaction
- Gray or pale complexion
- Inability to walk in a straight line or to walk at all.
- Shortness of breath at rest
All the above of the list of some symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness. Yet in our experience of operating tours in Tibet for the last 20 years. Many travellers fail to recognize the warning of their bodies. Often in many cases, travellers would think it is just a common cold or just a tiny headache—any slight change to your body or the functioning of your body. If the symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness are not taken care of in its mildness, it could seriously hamper your Tibet travel or could lead to a severe health issue and even may lead to death.
